1. 개요[편집]
고려대학교의 전문대학원 과정 국제대학원.
1991년 세계화 및 국제화의 흐름에 발맞춰 개원하였으며, 1996년 교육부가 선정한 5개의 우수 대학원 중 하나로 선정되어 5년 동안 정부 보조금을 지원받았다. 2002년 학부 과정인 국제학부를 신설하였고, 이후 현재까지 국제학 연구 및 국제학 특화 전문가 양성에 있어 그 기능을 충실히 다하고 있다.
보통 학부 과정이 신설된 후에 대학원 과정이 개설되지만, 고려대학교 국제대학원은 특이하게도 대학원 과정이 먼저 신설된 후 11년이나 지나서야 학부 과정인 고려대학교 국제대학이 개설되었다. 이는 고려대학교가 특이한 것이라기 보다는 국제대학원 자체의 특징인데, 국내 국제대학원의 대다수는 학부 과정의 역사가 대학원 과정보다 짧고 심지어 일부 대학의 경우 학부 과정 국제대학 없이 국제대학원 과정만 존재한다.
2020년 대한민국 교육부에서 석사 및 박사급 인력양성을 위하여 추진하는 인재양성 지원사업인 BK21의 4단계 BK21 사업단으로 선정되었다. 이로 인해 고려대학교 국제대학원은 2027년까지 국가로부터 연구장학금 및 신진연구인력 인건비를 지원받을 수 있게 되었다. 연구장학금의 경우 석사 과정 재학생는 한 달에 70만원, 박사 과정 재학생의 경우 한 달에 130만원을 지원받는다. 대학원생에게 있어 금전적 여유는 상당한 메리트로 작용하는데, 특히나 전문대학원이라는 특성상 이러한 메리트가 더 크게 체감될 수 있다.
아메리칸 대학교의 School of International Service, 고베대학(神戸大学)의 Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies, 푸단대학의 School of International Relations and Public Affairs, 비엔나 외교 아카데미의 Master of Advanced International Studies, 와세다대학의 Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies, SOAS의 School of Finance and Management와 복수학위 및 해외교류가 가능하다. 또한 푸단대학, 고베대학, 쭐랄롱꼰 대학교, 라오스 국립 대학교와 함께 CAMPUS Asia Plus 프로그램에 가입되어 있다.
고려대학교 국제대학원 재학생들은 서강대, 서울대, 연세대, 이화여대, 중앙대, 한국외대, 한양대 국제대학원의 수업을 수강할 수 있다.
현재 APSIA[1]에 가입되어 있는 3개의 한국 국제대학원 중 하나다.
2. 석사 학위 과정[편집]
국제학과와 한국학과로 나뉘어지며, 논문 트랙 혹은 비논문 트랙을 선택해 각각의 기준을 충족시키면 석사 학위를 취득할 수 있다. 비논문 트랙의 경우, 석사 학위 논문을 제출하지 않아도 되는 대신 추가 학점을 이수하여야 한다. 자세한 사항은 홈페이지 참고.
2.1. 국제학과(International Studies)[편집]
국제통상, 국제개발협력, 국제평화안보, 지역학의 4개 세부전공으로 구성되어 있다. 2년의 교과 과정을 마친 후 국제학 석사를 취득하게 된다.
2.1.1. 국제통상(International Commerce)[편집]
졸업하면 국제학 석사(국제통상)[2]를 부여받게 된다.The goal of this two-year program is to provide students with an enhanced understanding of international commerce within the process of globalization. Relevant courses will equip students with the skills, knowledge and experiences necessary in the fields of Trade, Finance, Business and Marketing. A wide range of relevant courses include: Macroeconomics, Strategic Management, Electronic Commerce, Multilateral and Regional Cooperation for Economic Development, Foreign Direct Investment, and Money and Banking.
2.1.2. 국제개발협력(International Development & Cooperation)[편집]
졸업하면 국제학 석사(국제개발협력)[3]을 부여받게 된다.This two-year program deals with relevant issues in international development. Students will explore various aspects of interactions among states, international organizations, aid agencies, and individuals in reducing poverty & inequality, achieving sustainable development, and addressing climate change. IDC professors at GSIS specialize in the following topics: education, climate change, human rights, water, environment, urban studies, gender, poverty and inequality, international trade and FDI, international law, and human development.
2.1.3. 국제평화안보(International Peace & Security)[편집]
졸업하면 국제학 석사(국제평화안보)[4]를 부여받게 된다.This two-year program provides rigorous and policy-related courses in Global Politics with a special focus on International Peace and Security. A series of courses on international peace and security include: World Politics, International Negotiation, Comparative Foreign Policy, History of International Relations, International Relations in East Asia, Approaches to International Peace, North-South Korea Relations, International Law and Human Rights.
2.1.4. 지역학(Area Studies)[편집]
졸업하면 연구 방향에 따라 국제학 석사(동아시아지역)[5], 또는 국제학 석사(유럽지역)[6]를 부여받게 된다.This two-year program offers students the opportunity to develop a deep and broad understanding of issues related to various world regions. Area studies at GSIS has a focus on three regions: Europe, Northeast Asia, and Southeast Asia. However, further expertise among GSIS faculty allows the (limited) study of other regions such as North America (Canada & US), Sub-Saharan Africa, and Russia.
2.2. 한국학과(Korean Studies)[편집]
국제학과와 다르게 특별히 세부전공은 없으며, 2년의 교과 과정을 마친 후 한국학 석사를 취득하게 된다.The Department of Korean Studies at GSIS aims to equip international and domestic students with an enhanced understanding of Korea, including its contemporary social modernization, and economic development. GSIS offers a two-year Master’s degree program. All the courses in the program are taught in English. In addition, high-level Korean language and reading classes are available in Korean for students who want to have intensive training in the Korean language. Current courses include: Modern History of Korea, Social Movement and Political Change, Social Problems in Korea, Korean Economy, Korean Cinema in the Global Context, and Dynamics of Korean Management.
3. 박사 학위 과정[편집]
석사 학위 과정과 달리 국제통상, 국제관계 전공만 존재하며, 비논문 트랙으로는 박사 학위를 취득할 수 없고 박사 논문 제출이 필수다.
3.1. 국제통상(International Commerce)[편집]
국제통상학 박사(Doctor of Philosophy in International Commerce)를 수여받는다.국제통상 분야에 대한 관심을 바탕으로 독창적인 연구를 수행하고자 하는 젊은 학자들을 위한 프로그램이다. 대한민국의 비약적 성장의 주된 요인은 국제 경영과 무역 부문에서 거둔 성공에서 찾을 수 있다. 이러한 연유로 본 프로그램은 무역과 해외직접투자(FDI) 부문에 특화 되어있다. 거시적 접근과 미시적 접근을 아우르는 전문성을 기반으로 박사과정 학생들이 연구에 직접 참여하도록 장려하고 있다. 국제통상전공에서 다룰 수 있는 연구 주제는 다자주의와 역내 무역, 해외직접투자, 전략적 관리 그리고 전자 상거래 등이다.
3.2. 국제관계(International Relations)[편집]
국제관계학 박사(Doctor of Philosophy in International Relations)를 수여받는다.국제협력과 관련된 독창적인 연구를 수행하고자 하는 젊은 학자를 위한 프로그램이다. 대한민국은 빠른 경제성장의 표본이자, 개발원조의 수원국에서 공여국으로 전환된 대표적인 국가이다. 오늘날 대한민국은 개발학의 선두 주자이며 아시아 국제관계의 중심이기도 하다. 세계 거시적 현안에 대한 연구에서 섬세한 미시적 연구까지, 본 프로그램은 국제개발과 국제협력 부문의 다양한 분야에 전문성을 가진다. 국제협력전공에서 다룰 수 있는 연구 주제는 지속 가능한 개발, 국제무역과 개발, 다자주의와 지역협력, 국제기구, 평화안보, 물과 개발, 빈곤과 불평등, 도시개발, 기후변화, 에너지 안보, 젠더와 개발, 인권 그리고 비교 문화와 주관적 웰빙(well-being) 등이 있다.
