2007년에는 자신의 고모 할머니인 앨리스 콜트레인이 세상을 떠났으며, 2008년에는 자신의 어머니가 세상을 떠나자 그 때 플라잉 로터스는 새 작품을 만들어야만 한다는 생각이 들었다고 하며, 본격적으로 앨범 작업에 들어갔다고 한다.

어머니가 한창 산소호흡기를 맨 상태에서 사경을 해맬 때, 플라잉 로터스는 인공호흡기와 바이탈 사인 모니터에서 나오는 소리들을 샘플링으로 땄었다고 한다. 후에 인터뷰에서 그는 "나는 평소에 그런 짓을 하지 않지만, 이 공간을 잊고 싶지 않았다"라고 이야기 한 바 있다. 이외에도 게임 사운드 등의 샘플링 역시 적극 활용했다고 한다.

메타크리틱 86점을 기록하면서 정말 좋은 평가를 받았다. The Times지에서는 이 음반에 만점을 부여했으며, Exclaim!에서는 올해의 일렉트로니카 음반 순위 1위에 이 앨범을 랭크하기도 했다. 2010년대 대표적인 웡키, IDM 명작으로써 현재까지도 사랑받고 있는 작품이다.
