앤디 워홀의 부탁을 받아 "워홀 슈퍼스타"의
이디 세지윅에 대한 노래를 작곡한 노래이다. 작곡 당시 루 리드가 앤디 워홀에게 이디 세지윅에 대해 어떻게 써야 하냐고 물어보자 앤디 워홀은 그녀가
팜므 파탈이지 않냐고 답했고, 그 말을 들은 루 리드는 "Femme Fatale"를 써 내려서
니코에게 주었다. 노래를 받은
니코가 리드 보컬을 맡았다. 녹음은 당시 건설 중이었던 셉터 레코드에서 진행되었다. 니코는
스털링 모리슨과 루 리드가 코러스의 백보컬 파트에서 잘못된 발음으로 제목을 부르는 걸 싫어했다고 하는데 프랑스어가 모국어기도 했던 니코가 제대로 된 발음을 알려줬음에도 두 사람 모두 말을 듣지 않았다고한다.
