미국의 전국 TV 방송망인 CW에서 제작한 드라마 슈퍼걸의 6개의 시즌 중 두 번째 시즌으로
2016년 10월 10일부터 2017년 5월 22일까지 미국에서 방영되었다.
카라 조엘 주연의 히어로물이며, DC 코믹스의 히어로 슈퍼걸을 원작으로 하고 있다.

CW 방송국장이 슬쩍 흘린 정보에 따르면 올해 안에 이 4편의 미드가 4일 연속 크로스오버 에피소드를 진행할 것이라고 한다. 즉 월요일에 슈퍼걸 시즌 2로 시작해 목요일에 레전드 오브 투모로우 시즌 2로 마무리하는 4부작 크로스오버 에피소드라는 것. 참고로 플래시 시즌 3 에피소드 8의 묘사에 따르면 드라마판 슈퍼걸의 지구는 지구-38이라는 듯 하다.[1]
아마도 슈퍼맨 코믹스가 처음으로 나온 연도인 1938년에 맞춘 듯.
CW에서 방영되는 시즌 2는 2016년 7월 25일부터 촬영에 들어가며, 2016년 10월 11일부터 방영중이고 또한 시즌 2에서는 렉스 루터의 여동생인 레나 루터(Lena Luthor), 닉 패로(Nick Farrow), 닥터(The Doctor), 스내퍼 카(Snapper Carr), 매기 소여(Maggie Sawyer)라는 캐릭터가 추가된다고 한다.

[ 영어 원문 ]: When she was 12 years old, Kara Zor-El escaped the doomed planet Krypton and was sent to earth where she was protected and raised by her foster parents, Jeremiah and Eliza Danvers and her foster sister, Alex. Under their supervision, Kara learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman, in order to keep her identity a secret.

Years later, Kara was living a "normal" life in National City, assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant and working beside her friend and IT technician Winslow "Winn" Schott and famous photographer James Olsen, who Grant hired away from Metropolis's Daily Planet. When Alex's life was threatened in a plane crash, Kara took to the sky to rescue her. In the aftermath, Kara decided she could no longer sit on the sidelines and came out as Supergirl. She now balances her job at CatCo with her work at the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO), a super-secret government agency where Alex also works. At first, the head of the DEO, Hank Henshaw, was resistant to Supergirl joining the DEO, until it was revealed that Hank was actually J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter, who had promised Jeremiah Danvers on his deathbed that he would protect both Alex and Kara. It has since been discovered that Jeremiah is actually alive and being held by Cadmus, a dangerous quasi-military organization that sees all aliens as threats. In Season One, Supergirl soared fighting crime and battling various villains, chief among them two Kryptonians who were intent on destroying Earth, but she has yet to find that same empowerment as Kara Danvers.

Now, in Season Two, Kara has left the safety of being Cat Grant's assistant in order to figure out what she really wants to do, while as Supergirl she continues to work at the DEO., protecting the citizens of National City and searching for Jeremiah and Cadmus. Along the way, she will team up with Superman to battle new villains, as she strives to balance her personal life with her life as a superhero.

CBS에서 '슈퍼걸' 시즌 2 제작비를 대폭 삭감하겠다고 하자 제작진 측에서 슈퍼걸의 방송사를 CBS에서 CW 채널로 옮기는 걸 고려 중이라고 한다. # 만약 된다면 플래시&애로우 세계관에 편입되는 것이다.
결국 슈퍼걸 시즌 2는 CW 채널에서 방영하게 되었다. #
슈퍼걸이 시즌 2부터는 CW로 넘어오면서 올 가을부터는 매일 같은 시간대에 DC 히어로 드라마를 방영한다고 한다.
