I.M의 본격적인 솔로 활동의 시작점이 될 이번 앨범은 ‘OVERDRIVE’라는 타이틀에서도 연상되듯 새로운 시작을 앞두고 ‘속도를 높여’ 달리고자 하는 의지가 앨범 전반에 투영되고 있다.

“주변 환경에도 불구하고, 중요한 것은 자신의 내면(deep down)을 깊이 들여다보고, 스스로 정한 목표(vision)를 위해 자신만의 길 위에서 달리는 것(ride)”

타이틀곡 ‘OVERDRIVE’는 강렬한 트랩 사운드와 목표 지향적인 가사가 인상적인 곡이다. 타이틀 자체에 ‘증속’과 ‘정해져있는 범위를 넘어간, 일그러진 소리를 정상 신호 레벨로 만들어내는 기타 이펙터’ 두 가지 의미를 내포하고 있으며, 가사 곳곳에서 새로운 시작에 대한 포부와 앞으로 나아갈 방향에 대한 자신감을 찾아볼 수 있다.

 * 전작인 [[DUALITY]]는 디지털 미니앨범이었기 때문에 실물 앨범이 없었던 반면에[* 추후 LP 판매가 이루어졌으나, LP 발매 이후에도 여전히 디지털 미니앨범으로 표기한다.], 이번 앨범은 다양한 구성의 실물 앨범이 함께 발매될 예정이다. 특히, 기존 몬스타엑스 앨범에서는 볼 수 없었던 구성인 '''POCAALBUM'''[* 플라스틱 CD가 포함되어 있지 않은 대신 동봉된 QR카드를 통해 다양한 디지털 콘텐츠를 감상할 수 있다.]이 발매될 예정이다.

 * 팀 멤버 [[민혁(몬스타엑스)|민혁]]의 군입대를 시작으로 본격적으로 솔로 및 유닛 활동을 시작한 몬스타엑스 멤버들과 약 한달씩의 텀을 두고 앨범을 발매하게 되었다. 같은 해 5월에는 멤버 [[주헌]]의 솔로 앨범 [[LIGHTS]]가 발매되었고, 6월에는 아이엠 본인의 솔로 앨범이, 7월에는 [[셔누 X 형원]]의 유닛 앨범 [[THE UNSEEN]]이 발매되었다.
